About You:

You are the expert on yourself, your life, and your needs. When you are able to make a good faith engagement in the counseling process you are more likely to achieve positive therapeutic gains.  You are already engaging in behaviors that work well for you and aid in your long term health and recovery, despite the fact they may be difficult to recognize. You have a right to be fully informed of the context in which you share your most private information, the methods I employ in assistance, and the collaborative nature of the relationship.

About Me:

I enjoy working in this field because of the unique, insightful, and profound perspectives of the clients with whom I partner. The variety of professional experiences I've had has informed and developed a grounded but flexible approach to mental health counseling.  The privilege of working with clients has been an experience of professional growth and change for me as well.

After obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT I worked for over 10 years in the area of domestic violence victim advocacy, offender treatment, homelessness intervention, residential treatment for the chronically mentally ill, and reintegration programs for the formally incarcerated. It was during this time I developed  what came to be a nationally recognized domestic violence victim's advocacy partnership program in El Paso County Colorado with the intention to assist victims of domestic violence who found themselves displaced from their homes, families, and communities. After working out west for 5 years, I returned to the east coast to pursue my Master's Degrees.

I returned to graduate school to pursue mental health counseling out of a desire to assist others in bringing about meaningful, lasting change. During my time at Marymount I was fortunate to work with a wide variety of people including those with severe and persistent mental health issues, substance abuse dependence, life transitions, and various relationship and adjustment struggles. I graduated from Marymount University in Arlington, VA in 2007 with a Master's Degrees in Community Counseling and Forensic Psychology. Since that time, I've been providing counseling and psychotherapy to clients managing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, PTSD, and personality disorders, as well as relationship disturbances, life transitions, career counseling, and adjustment disorders.
